Founded in 1977 in Istanbul, Orba was the first to ferment enzymes in Turkey, initially for textile and brewery applications. In baking, surface fermentation Fungal Alpha Amylase was produced by Orba and introduced to the Turkish baking industry as a first in enzymes. The application of enzymes in bread was approved by TUBITAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) in a joint project in the early 80’s.
Today, Orba is an enzyme, emulsifier, and probiotic manufacturer and solution provider with extensive application know-how in baking and feed. Its boutique high quality team of scientists and practitioners are solutions oriented versus the industry practice of product promotion. It tackles freshness, shelf life, colour and moistness issues in addition to others.
SwitzGroup first invested in Orba in 2015 and subsequently in 2017, taking a majority stake.
